Daniel "Danny" Crawford Jr., 32, was found around 1 a.m. Saturday, Connecticut State police said.

Crawford, a Brewster High School grad and avid fisherman, was found after state police received a 911 call reporting a person in the roadway near Exit 2 in Danbury.

Once on scene, police located a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee on the right shoulder and Crawford's body, according to state police.

Lt. Chris Bartolotta said the department is working to get the word out to tractor-trailer rigs and trucks across New York and Connecticut to check their truck tires for any possible signs of a collision.

"We are actively investigating the case but believe there is a possibility the victim could have been hit by the rear of a truck and the driver would never know," he said.

"With the wind conditions and the force of a truck passing he could have been sucked under a tractor-trailer," he added.

Anyone with information, or who may have seen something is asked to contact state police at 203-267-2200.
